Abstract:

One of the problems of existing irrigation networks is seepage phenomena. Seepage problem and its control in irrigation channels is one of the most important issues in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of these channels. In this study, simulated the rate of seepage and phreatic lines in the Mianab irrigation and drainage channels located in the Karun basin using mathematical two dimensional SEEP/W model. Results show that when flow depth in main channel be equal or more than 1.69 meters, the phreatic line intersects the downstream walls of embankment and exist the probability of piping phenomena. By increasing flow depth in main channels, increase phreatic line slop. Hydraulic conductivity coefficient don’t influence on phreatic line and only water surface elevation in main channel influence on phreatic line.

Survey of Virtual Water Trade and its Impact on Water Productivity in the Shoshtar MianAb irrigation and Drainage Network

Water is the first and foremost limiting factor for agricultural production, and undoubtedly, water crisis is considered as one of the international challenges for governments and human societies. Given that virtual water was first used as a way to tackle water scarcity in countries with limited water resources, so that countries with low water should import food from abundant countries...

Evaluation of Drainmod model in Irrigation and Drainage Network of ABADAN Date palms

In the study, Drainmod model was used to compare measured water table depth fluctuations on the farm with those simulated by the model, also comparison of measured drainage outflow of the farm drains and model simulated was investigated. This study was made in a part of the Irrigation and Drainage Network of ABADAN Date palms. By statistical analysis of the measured and predicted water table de...

Determination of seepage loss in earthen channels supplied by Hamoon channel in Dorodzan irrigation and drainage network.

Irrigation channels, which are parts of rainwater catchment systems, have been used for water supply in agriculture for a long time. Seepage loss in irrigation channels is one of the farmers' concerns. Seepage loss, especially in earthen channels, can be noticeable. Different equations have been developed to estimate seepage loss amount in irrigation channels. However, the accuracy of the equat...

Socio-economic, cultural, physical and ecological impact assessment of Kavar irrigation and drainage network in Iran

Environmental impacts assessment may be some measures to offset the impact to an acceptable level or explore new solutions. The research was conducted with the aim of assessing the socio-economic, cultural, physical and ecological impacts of Kavar irrigation and drainage network in Fars Province (Iran). In this study, Environmental impacts assessment was undertaken by ICOLD matrix. The ICOLD ma...

Determining the best irrigation water scheduling with the aim of maximum productivity in irrigation and drainage networks (Case study: Qazvin irrigation network)

In this study, a model was developed to determine the optimal irrigation schedule for the Qazvin Plain in such a way that economic productivity is maximized with the amount of water available and the area under cultivation. The AquaCrop plant growth model was used to determine crop performance in different irrigation programs. The plant growth model was connected to the MATLAB programming envir...
